Technology

How does the Livinguard antibacterial technology work?

img

Capture

Materials treated with Livinguard antibacterial technology are positively charged and capture negatively charged microbes like a magnet.

Deactivate

Upon contact the negatively charged cell walls of the microbes are disrupted and rendered harmless.

Repeat

The deactivated microbes have no charge left and the material is ready to protect again.

Livinguard Saafkins™ initiative

How we improve the lives of thousands of menstruators by addressing period poverty

img

Over 1.2 billion people lack access to basic sanitation. Livinguard is on a mission to unleash female contributions to the world, rather than keeping them at home and partners with various NGOs worldwide to address period poverty.

The problem

Lack of access to sanitation may lead to dire consequences

4kg year- 150kg  lifetime

Waste generated for every women from using disposable sanitary pads

500-800 years

Time required for a disposable sanitary pad to biodegrade in a landfill (plastic never really biodegrades and remains as microplastics in circulation)

Affordability due to comparably high costs or limited financial control

Unhygienic practices with long-term consequences (e.g. use of old paper, sand, ash, hay or recycled cloth)

Education & awareness

Contamination leading to UTIs and RTIs or even long-term reproductive and urinary complications

Cultural norms & taboo

Loss of dignity, limited access to education

Impact through partnerships

We work with partners to deliver impact at scale

We have already changed the lives of over 500,000 menstruators across India and beyond. We have the potential to address gender inequality and better the lives of millions of women & girls across the world.
